What is meant by ‘Listening Mode’?

During installation and when power is first applied to the WiFire Remote the center led rapidly flashes dark blue. This is Listening Mode. It means WiFire Remote is waiting for you to connect to it from a computer/tablet/phone and provide the name and password of your wireless router.

How do I determine which network is the one to connect WiFire Remote to?

The home owner will have to provide the name of the wireless network and the password for the network. If he does not want to share his password with the installer, he will need to be present at installation to personally enter his or her password.

Note: Wireless routers come with a factory set network name (SSID) and password it can be found on the underside of the router.

Where should I position WiFire Remote inside of the fireplace cavity?

WiFire Remote is typically located just inside the access door of the fireplace where the other controls reside. This allows WiFire Remote to be out of view, reside in the coolest part of the fireplace cavity and provide convenient access to the Mode Switch.

Some installations may be easier if WiFire Remote is mounted on the wall and the control wires are run to the stove/fireplace. In this manner, it may be easier turn the fireplace off and on using the manual control switch.

I have opted to use the new lead wire provided with the WiFire Remote. I have the two wires on one end attached to WiFire Remote. Which two terminals on the fireplaces gas valve do I attach the two wires on the other end to?

Attach the WiFireRemote to terminals TH and TH/TP for Millivolt systems. For electronic ignition systems attach the WiFire Remote to the off/on switch terminals or thermostat terminals.

In Step 3 of the install instructions, I am instructed to disconnect the lead wires from my existing control device in order to re-rout these wires to my WiFire Remote. My existing control device is a wall thermostat. Therefore, the wire leads from my gas valve into the wall. What should I do?

Remove the thermostat and disconnect the wires. Then strip the wire that goes to the fireplace control valve, splice the WiFire Remote contact to the newly stripped wires with wire nuts provided.

Another option is, in the fireplace cavity, disconnect the existing lead wires from the "TH/TP" and the "TH" terminals on your fireplace valve and re-connect the spare lead wire that was supplied to the fireplace valve in the same terminal locations. Then connect the leads to WiFire Remote terminals located right next to the temperature sensor probe terminals. You cannot connect the wires backwards.
