FAQ

Why do I need to provide a User Name and Password at the time I initially purchase WiFire Remote?

When purchasing WiFire Remote you will be asked to provide a User Name and Password at checkout.

  • Setting up a User Name & Password during the purchase process allows you to track your purchases, review your order history, simplify future orders and gives you the opportunity to stay informed of any future WiFireRemote improvements.
  • This User Name & Password chosen by the user during the purchase process is not the information that will ultimately be used to access your fireplace or stove controls (unless, of course, the user choses to enter the same information during the installation process).

What is the purpose of the manual switch on the side of the WiFire Remote box?

The On, Off, Internet slide switch allows manual operation of the stove/fireplace. If this feature is used routinely it is best to mount WiFire Remote on the wall and not inside the stove/fireplace.

What if my WiFire Remote does not power up in ‘Listening Mode’?

Place the WiFire Remote in the vertical position, power cord facing up, and the WiFire Remote label facing you. You will see an LED in the center and 2 small buttons (one on each side of the center LED). Hold the left button down for 5-10 seconds and the center LED will then be start blinking dark blue aka “listening mode”.

I have opted to use the new lead wire provided with the WiFire Remote. I have the two wires on one end attached to WiFire Remote. Which two terminals on the fireplaces gas valve do I attach the two wires on the other end to?

Attach the WiFireRemote to terminals TH and TH/TP for Millivolt systems. For electronic ignition systems attach the WiFire Remote to the off/on switch terminals or thermostat terminals.

In Step 3 of the install instructions, I am instructed to disconnect the lead wires from my existing control device in order to re-rout these wires to my WiFire Remote. My existing control device is a wall thermostat. Therefore, the wire leads from my gas valve into the wall. What should I do?

Remove the thermostat and disconnect the wires. Then strip the wire that goes to the fireplace control valve, splice the WiFire Remote contact to the newly stripped wires with wire nuts provided.

Another option is, in the fireplace cavity, disconnect the existing lead wires from the "TH/TP" and the "TH" terminals on your fireplace valve and re-connect the spare lead wire that was supplied to the fireplace valve in the same terminal locations. Then connect the leads to WiFire Remote terminals located right next to the temperature sensor probe terminals. You cannot connect the wires backwards.
